So much for New Years resolutions!

Guess I'm not doing so well keeping up with that darn New Years resolution! Well I'm going thru my craft stages. All summer I scrapbooked, well sort of, most of the summer. And now that it's cold, I'm back to crocheting. I've made 5 blankets for Linus, hats for preemies at the hospital, and pieces for Warm up America. Now I've decided to do a craft show on December 2 and I need to get stuff made for that. Luckily I have stuff left from last year's flop!
I did get a couple purses made. I still need to felt one, but here's a photo unfelted. It's made from Paton's wool(the brown) and Lion brand wool(the teal). I made it for my friend Melanie. We both just love the Java Blue print made by Vera Bradley and she really loves their hipster bag. The colors are very close as you can see and if she doesn't like it, I'm taking it back!

New Years resolutions!

I never do these because I never follow thru with them, but I am going to make one to try to blog more. I have so much to say and everyone here is tired of hearing it!
We had a wonderful New Years Eve with our friends at a house about 3 blocks away, so the ride home was great. the kids even stayed up till midnite, how could they not with all the noise from 8 kids running around! The mommies drank themselves silly and had a good time. But I'm so tired today. Luckily my kids don't go back to school till Tuesday, while everyone else there starts tomorrow(Monday). Boy I can't wait till Tuesday though!
I started taking down CHristmas decorations today, hopefully I can have it all done tomorrow. I'm ready to put the house back in order, whatever that order might be, since I haven't finished unpacking yet!
Off for some beauty sleep and to work on some auction items!

Christine starts school tomorrow!!!! But it's just a tease, she only goes a half day. Then she goes Thursday and Friday this week, Mon, Tue, and Wed next week. She has a 5 day weekend for Labor day! Ugh. Evan doesn't start until later in September. I got Ev's room painted, but i need to do some touch ups. I'll wait to do those after we move his stuff in. I was also thinking about painting his ceiling. It looks kinda dumb, a white ceiling with tha bright yellow and warm brown. I don't know. I also started on my red wall today, I LOVE IT! It's going to look so great with the red toille quilt, but I think I will have to paint the othe walls more of a taupe instead of leaving them white. WHY IS EVERYTHING WHITE!

Looks thrilled doesn't she! She really did like the shrug, she just doesn't like it when I tell her how to pose.
It was very easy only took a few hours and one skein of Bernat Coordinates. I love the outcome, may even have to make one for myself!

All my violets are in bloom!

They love that window, just the right exposure. Not sure what to do with them when we move, I don't have a window that faces that direction that isn't blocked! Hope they survive!

Well we got posession back of our house from the renters and it's in pretty much the same shape as when we left, except the bathroom ceiling is peeling. And the yard is an absolute mess.I don't know if we should just kill it all and start over or what. But atleast now I can get over there and start some painting. I found a big boy quilt for Evan today at Target. It's a Woolrich and beautiful colors and he approved(He's 3).

He loves yellow and I wanted something he wouldn't outgrow in a couple years and it was perfect! The paint colors will be one of the yellows for the walls and one of the darker browns for the trim. I can't wait!

Made a star ghan for my mom's Boyd's bears to rest their tushies on. She has a lot of the Americana bears and she has them sitting on her dining room table with a quilt she made, but they are kind of overflowing, so I though she could put it on a bench with them.

I used RHSS in Claret, Mainstays in True Navy, and Mainstays in Soft Beige. Less than a half skein each.

I've been on a roll this week! I did 2 drawstring bags, taking what I liked from different patterns and the advice of my daughter! She did not like the shape of the purple one. I aso did a shell on the top of the redorange one that I really like.

I also made a scarf and hat set from Joann's Angel Hair, again taking things I liked about different patterns. I LOVE that yarn! especially since it was 40% off since our Joanns is moving.

Terrible picture, I really need to find my glass head!
I also did a scarf Thursday nite from joanns Lolo. Total pain in the ass to work with, but cute little boa scarf, picture to follow!
Also just finishing up a star blanket with some Bernat Softee that cost me $1.50 on clearance at Walmart a few months ago. Gotta love those bargains. One skein made about a carseat sized blanket, I have one more skein. I'm still trying to decide if I want to make it bigger or not. Hmmm....

Blogger will probably break down tonite, I'm posting 2 days in a row!
Well I finished the round ripple that gave me fitsfor 2 months. And I can't believe how easy it was! I don't know what I did wrong. This is going to a friend of mine who had a baby on my birthday!

Last week we took the kids to se James Taylor in concert a couple hours from where we live. The place is an open air place with seats in a pavilion and on the lawn. Of course we were on the lawn(cheap haha seats). This was the second James Taylor concert the kids have been to, we listen to him all the time at home so they sing right along! It was lightening the whole time we were there and there was an absolute down pour once we got in the car to leave. We got so lucky! Any way here's some pics of us having fun. (excuse some of the pics, the kids and strangers took them!) That's James Taylor in the first picture I swear!

I took the kids to our Botanical gardens today for a Willy Wonka day. They had different activities, but i go there a lot to take pictures, so I did!
I'll have to post them tomorrow - having a heck of a time with photo bucket! Ok I got it!

Our summer visitors

Our summer visitors have arrived. And these are the good kind, they aren't loud, I don't have to clean up after them, all I have to do is feed them. It's our hummingbirds!

We think we have 3 or 4, it's hard to tell, but I have seen 3 atthe feeder(or near) all at the same time. There is one male that guards the feeder and will only let a female feed from it, it chases the other male off. He sits on a branch close to the feeder and keeps watch.

It's pretty amusing to watch! So we did put up a second feeder so none is excluded!

UGGH! I hate not being able to figure something out! I tried to do a round ripple afghan, I started and frogged it about 20 times and couldn't get it! SO I quit because I needed to get a blanket done for a shower. I decided to do a giant granny square and let the colors of the yarn give it the wow factor. It worked up very quickly, I even made a smaller carseat blanket. I love how it turned out.

I'm going to make one for Evan too( I still have plenty of the yarn!) and then we'll use the green and yellow for paint colors in his room.
SO of course I decided to give the round ripple one more try with different yarn and it's going along very smoothly now! Of course! The new yarn is baby weight and the other was worsted weight, but I even tried different hook sizes and couldn't make it work!

I have been back in that slump again. I started a poncho for myself but just can't seem to finish it. I'm making from micro spun and it's taking forever!
So I get sidetracked...like with loopi

I made 2 of these in a day and a half, gave one to my mom for her birthday. Mine are much larger than the original pattern because I got a great deal on square measuring tapes at Joann's. Mom loved it.
Also started on a scarf from the Cozy Crochet kit. It's working up very fast using Angel Hair from Joanns.

Then I have been making a few pair of earrings a day to get stocked up on them for craft shows. Here's a few.

So that's what I've done lately. I'm going to have to put it all away this week to get ready for vacation. Hopefully, I'll get some stuff done then too!

Ok I think I'm officially out of my slump! I was working on the same baby blanket for about a week and a half, but I frogged it about 6 times and never got further than the 6th round. So I put it away and started on a cotton ease poncho for my daughter for vacation. and a matching pink tank, so I picked up some cotton ease in the dark blue at the bottom of the pants and am making one of the versions of the Martha poncho. She's going to be so cute!
So I decided I needed a poncho to take on vacation too. So I picked up some micro spun in a bright royal blue and my mom found a pattern for me in a magazine. Can't wait to start it!

I am such a terrible blogger! I can't even get motivated to work on a crochet project let alone blog it! I did another scarf for my inventory for craft shows, but have frogged the same blanket 6 times in 3 days. It just makes me not want to pick it up. SO I'm going to try moving on to something else for awhile. Hope fullt that will motivate me!

Not much going on lately. I finished a wrap I was going to wear for our family pictures but changed my mind and wore something else. Haven't really been able to decide what to do next. I should start on my stuff for the bathroom/kitchen swap but still need to find out for sure kitchen colors from my partner. I made another fuzzy scarf for craft shows. Interesting colors - Covered bridge red(homespun) and Mango(fun fur prints) held together. I really like it. Helping at school alot this week with all the end of the year activities going on. It's going to be so sad next year if my daughter doesn't have any of the same girls in her class. I'll miss working with the other moms!
Any way we had Girl Scout mother/daughter banquet on Monday. Thursday is a regular work day for our group of moms, but the regular teacher just came back from maternity leave and we had to play catch up with some things. Then Friday was the class picnic which was a lot of fun. Now Monday is Field Day( I told my hubby he was volunteerign for that!) and something else this week that i can't remember right now!
I'm exhausted just thinking about it!

A new purse!

I have been working on a new purse since I made the turquoise one out of the Patons Fresco. This one in black and I'm making it for my daughter's teacher(she took over while the regular teacher was on maternity leave.) She has been wonderful and the kids will really miss her. She's young so I wanted to make something a little more trendy. I LOVE it! I decided after carrying mine for a couple weeks, that I should line it because of the stretch factor. And I got this idea in my head about black grosgrain ribbon with white polka dots. I I made the bag, made it up as I went along and went to my mom to help with the lining. Instead of making a closure, I made different flowers that could be changed to put on the flap. I am so pleased with the results!

Yes I went back and I drug my kids along for the fun(?). There was a huge line that I had to wait in but I had to go thru it a different way because I had a stroller, so I waited and a cop just let me go in.(yeah!!) There was nothing left. They had tons of this one black microfiber bag and that was about it, unless you followed people around who had just shoved things into bags and then later stood to the side and sorted thru things. I ended up getting a really cute red microfiber purse and a blue print bag. They also gave you free picture frame, journal and luggage tags when you checked out. I have a tonn of the luggage tags now for gifts. The kids were angels! SO I took them to toys r us afterwards. Small price to pay, and hey I hadn't even bribed them beforehand!

I'm going back to the sale tomorrow because my daughter so badly wanted a little purse and I din't get her one the other day. I'm getting up and going first thing in the morning. I've also been asked to scope out things for other people. What makes me really crazy is I'm taking both kids. actually for my kids it's not that crazy, for the most part they are very coorperative.

Yes I am one of the lunatics who participates in the ridiculous Vera Bradley Outlet sale every year!. If you don't know what Vera Bradley is, stop reading. You don't want to read any further because it will drive you insane. Vera Bradley is a brand of purses, bags, luggage, etc, that 's made here where I live. They are beautiful bags and ear very well(I stilll have every one I've ever boughtfor the last 15 yrs!) The colors are always beautiful, very 'in' for the season.

SO every year they have this big outlet sale where you can get things sometimes 1/2 off.(which is great because I'd never have ANY, too $$$) SO my husband worked part time for one of the sponser companies for the sale and they have a big preview sale for those companies the nite before the sale really opens. SO for the first time I actually got the patterns I wanted AND a matching purse and coin purse for my mom. It is absolute madness, they hand out big pink(they do alot for breast cancer fund raising in our city)trashbags and women run around shoving stuff in the bag. Then they go sit in a corner and sort thru what they acually want and don't want. It's just somethin you cannot possibly imagine. The sale runs for three days, not including the sponser sale or the ticket day sale(A $10 ticket gets you into the sale a day before it opens up to the public, proceeds going to breast cancer research), but the day it actually opens to the public people come from everywhere(I've heard CA, FL mentioned)they stand in line as soon as the building opens(maybe 5AM) to get it when it opens at 8AM. Well in years past they restock every nite so ther's a chance that there will be things left. BUT after yesterdays ticket sale there's virtually nothing left! It's unbelievable. There was a woman ahead of us in the checkout line who's bill came to $840.00. There were 2 other women who had grabbed a shopping cart and had it over flowing.

My friend and I did very well, we showed a lot of restraint(we did not get all of this stuff!)

Of course we've made it very clear to my dear hubby that he must continue to work for this company(he was just doing an internship for tax season!).

My purse!!

I bought this yarn last year and it's been sitting in my stash since then waiting to decide what it's going to be. And it finally did. I made myself a purse!

It's made from Patons fresco. I love working with this stuff, it's so soft! Now I'm looking online for more(I bought it from Smiley's yarn sale and they no longer have it) and I found it's been discontinued. Of course! Not sure why that surprises me. But I want to get some more to make purses for craft shows in the fall. I haven't been this excited about a project in awhile!
Also made a flower to cover up a mistake!

A quickie!

I whipped up the Chelle's poncho last nite and added a hat sort of my own design. Afterwards I was concerned that the poncho may stretch too much and fall off her shoulders so I added some white grosgrain ribbon and made a place on the hat so I could do the same. I just LOVE how it turned out. And the mom was thrilled!

Had 2 birthday parties today back to back both kids in gynastics class, so we're all exhausted!

Busy, busy

I've been working diligently on dichcloths for the string scrubbie project on this site http://raincircle.com/ I've finished about 8 now. I want to get a few more made before I send them.
I've also been working on a new blanket for my daughter. The last one I made her was the very first project I ever made and it's getting a little small for her. So I'm making one like the granny square one I made before in cotton tots, but in different colors. I'm using bluberry, varigated blue,lime,purple and I'm goign to get some of the lime(if I can find it!) and some of the purple. Then I'm going to try to find a new quilt for her bed, so when we move in October she can have a whole new room.
I did 2 new ponchos. The first one is sugar and cream made from 4 squares pieced together from a pattern from my 200 squares book.

Next one is based on the coming home poncho from the LB site. I changed the hook size and the type of yarn. I love it, Christine could take it or leave it.

Now working on a Chelle's poncho for a little girl i Ev's gymnastics class who's birthday is tomorrow. I'm usingRh super saver in lavender. Love that color, it reminds me of the purple jelly beans I used to get as a kid.

I joined the summer scarf swap and the RAOK list at Crochetville today! I keep seeing things that people have on their RAOK lists that I could get for them and think hey someone would do the same for me! And as far as the scarf goes I think it would be fun to have something someone made for ME!
SO now I need to come up with a list and find some pretty yarn for a summer scarf. Maybe I'll even try something new!
I made a trip to Hobby Lobby today, which is no small feat with my son who screams, I don't want to go to Hobby Wobby Mommy! I controlled myself in the yarn dept but went crazy in the jewelry dept. Some stuff was half off, so I couldn't pass it up. I got a bunch of charms to make zipper pulls and things for craft shows next year. Of course to appease the beast I let Evan pick out a charm to make a zipper pull and the kid picks out a crucifix. I tried to talk him into a dozen other things but he kept insisting, It's just wike church mommy! OK I just think it's a little odd for an almost 3yo to wear a crucifix. Guess I should be thankful!
Lets see over the weekend I made another Lacy Shells poncho, a furry headband(that matches it) from Crochet me mag online, and a coffee cup cozy(from the same place) and started the coming home poncho from the LB site, but am modifying it to fit Christine(or trying!) Oh and tonite I cleaned up my yarn mess beside my chair and got it all in one container.
I also went grocery shopping made dinner and cookies(don't pat me on the back too much they were refrigerator cookies!) But I feel as though I accomplished something!
Now most of the week will be devoted to helping set up for the Garage sale fundraiser at school!

Another SNOW DELAY!

Can't believe it another snow delay! My daughter missed her field trip to the chocolate factory because of it. But.....I got to sleep in! Granted it was between my kids, but who better to snuggle with on a cold winter morning!
Finished my new scarf to go with my new coat today. I was trying to make it to match the lining which is periwinkle, pink, lime, black and white. BUT I didn't have enough Cotton tots in limeberry left and that was the closest color I could find, so I just did pink, blue and white. But I used regular WW and some novelty and did the whole thing in long stripes. I really liked how it turned out, but would loved to have had the green.
Also worked on a coffee cup cozy from the Crochet Me mag online.
Went swimming with the kids at in law's hotel. They certainly have gotten braver than the first time we went a month ago. Evan just throws himself off the side now. I'm exhausted gotta go!

I have been MIA far too long. Just busy with life. I had my mental health weekend with my sister in laws, 2 weeks ago. That was so nice. But it just seems like it takes forever to get back into things after that.
Any way here's an update on some projects.
A poncho for my daughter. Made from the Lacy shells poncho pattern http://www.luv2crochet.com/ from here made in RH in delft blue. Love the color!

Here's a poncho I worked on for my Mental health weekend but don't have a pic of me in it yet.

Pattern is from poncho panache made from RH baby soft in Lime.
Something not crochet related but another love of mine jewelry making. Here's a necklace I just love how it turned out and people are probably sick of seeing it on me!

My mom made me hook holders for my normal sized hooks and afghan hooks. They work great and are pretty too!

I'll try to update more tomorrow!

Where did the week go!?

What a fast week! Made Christine 2 headbands this week. A red one and a pink one so she could wear one to school for Valentine's day. I also helped out at her party at school. Love doing that stuff. Had terrible behavior problems with Evan(my almost 3yo) this week. Finally last nite I just shut him in his room to cry. Which takes a lot for me to do because if he gets too worked up he usually vomits. I finally just shut myself in MY room.
Today was much better. I started a poncho for myself. Using Rh Baby Soft in Lime and a pattern from poncho panache. I desparatly need SPRING! And I'm going for a mental health weekend next week with my SILs and I want something pretty!

ANOTHER SNOW/FOG DAY!!!

How many snow and fog days off can these kids get? Honestly the fog wasn't that bad and we live in Indiana, we know how to live with snow! Funny thing is all the snow from the last round we got all disappeared yesterday, so of course in would snow today! Oh well gives us time to get my daughter's Valentine box decorated. But it's yet another day that pictures don't get delivered to clients.
Finally, I have some pictures of projects. These first ones are from the auction at school.

Next are some scarves I'm working on for craft shows next fall.

Also a poncho I made for my SIL to give her daughter for her birthday.

And the poncho I made for myself, I absolutely LOVE this thing. It's made from a mixture of TLC Amore in Red velvet and RH Plush in red(it's the same yarn! but the plush is cheaper!) It's so soft and the drape is wonderful!

Here's a detail of the stitch I just chose one from the stitch bible(the sultan stitch, I think)

I've also made myself a button for my blog, 2 actually, I like them both, but they are kinda large.

Have just spent the last hour trying to make a button for my pretty new blog. Wow I am so not cut out to be a computer geek! How frustrating!
I did finish the edging on the fleece today. I'm so happy with how it turned out!

I also started the cone stocking cap from yarncat.com. I did one for the school auction in the school colors and now I'm doing a navy and red for Evan to match his coat. Hopefully he'll wear it!

I hate Mondays!

It started off OK, my daughter had a 2 hour delay for fog(we didn't see any) so I got to sleep a little. But the day kinda went down hill from there. Went to Michael's, showed incredible restraint and only bought 1 skein of yarn and this great cushion to put on my size 12 hook that is killing my hand(works great!). Went to Walmart and only bought 2 skeins of yarn and then went to the grocery store. My son was a complete pain all the way thru, had a headache when I left there adn never got rid of it. Tried EVERYTHING I could think of. By the time diner came around the smell of the foood made me sick, spent the rest of the evening on the couch. But feeling somewhat better now. I did work on something new today and last nite. I've been getting remnants of fleece here and there and I'm going to do crocheted borders on them for Project Linus. SO I started one last nite, the worst part was getting the fabric ready punching holes and measuring. Yuck. But I love the result I'm getting!

What a wonderful thing it is to finally finish a project that has been mocking me from a basket in my bedroom for a year now. I started a baby blanket for a friend of my husband last February, but decided not to give it to them because we never got any response from them for the baby outfit we sent. SO I stuck it in the basket and there it sat! Well, my mom has been working on blankets for project linus and has been after me to finish mine(the one in the basket!) so I did! Today! It turned out really pretty. I'll post a picture of it later(sorry no digital here!). It didn't take long to finish it either. I guess I just got bored with it.

I made 5 of the fun fur and homespun scarves this week, and pulled one apart. The colors just didn't look right on the 5th one. My mom requested one and the rest are for craft shows in the fall. I'll post those pics too later. Made a red, a blue, a black/white, and a cream-mocha colored one.
Turned in all the items I made for the Auction at my daughter's school. I made a fun long striped stocking cap in school colors, a skull cap and scarf set in school colors(which are royal blue and white), a black/white homespun/funfur scarf, and a black lacy wrap with bead accents on the fringe. One of the people who are organizing it, stopped me at church and just thanked me over and over. The auction is Friday, I can't wait to see how much they go for!

Isn't it fascinating what you can get done when you are minus a child and the other one naps!?
My daughter went home with a friend after school and my son just laid down in his bed and went to sleep. Which probably means it will take him forever to go to sleep tonite, but I can deal with that. But I did get the poncho finished and made a purse that goes with it. I can get it shipped this week! My husband( the supportive guy that he is) looked at it and said it looked like a cross between an advent wreath and an Easter egg. Gee thanks, honey. Way to boost that confidence. Oh well.
So now it's back to scarves for now. My mom requested one of the furry ones, so I'm just going to let her choose from what I've made.
Off to help get the kids to bed!

My first post!!!
Well it's been a busy week. Hobby lobby had homespun on sale, so I picked some up and Joanns had fun fur and cha cha on sale so I got some that coordinated with the homespun to make scarves. I got 3 scarves done this week along with a poncho for my niece and I'm working on a matching purse. PIctures to follow!
It's so cold this week! I'm not usually someone who gets cold, I'm always hot. But I'm freezing my booty off. I've never slept underneath the quilt on my bed, but I have yet to go a nite this winter without it! It's crazy. I took my daughter to school this AM and the temp was -1. That's not a temperature! Bluck!
Better go I want to finish the purse and make another out of some wool I got and felt it.
